Eyes Forward
So, it's 2021. Happy New Year people! Congrats - you survived!
I choose to look through the windshield rather than the rear-view mirror. There are many, many others who use those in-car cameras and never look back when they are pulling out of a parking spot. Don’t you hate that? Can we get ANY lazier? Mirrors, yes, those were the good ol’ days.
If I were to look back, though, I’d say I accomplished a lot during 2020. I took a class at Yale University “The Science of Well-Being” (I have a certificate to prove it!), which proved to be helpful during the past year!

I also stretched my artistic side, and learned how to use PicMonkey and Canva for graphic design stuff and memes.
In the comedy realm, I worked with a small, talented band of comedy peeps, and co-wrote, produced, and performed comedy murder mysteries. We also launched the Some Kind of Comedian Podcast, and I wrote my first sketch comedy for a contest in the UK; fingers crossed! While I had the good fortune to do four live, in-person shows in 2020 (1-pre-lockdown and three with social distancing), I attended more than 464 meetings, workshops, open mics and shows on Zoom. Jeepers! More fun to come in 2021! (…and NOW, I’m a poet!)
A totally different accomplishment, but significant none-the-less, smack in the middle of the toilet paper rush of 2020, I learned how to install a bidet on my toilet! You can’t say I’m not well-rounded!
However, the most important lessons I’ve learned in 2020 have taught me a lot about resilience, patience, perseverance, family and friendships. That’s the stuff that is important, and that’s the stuff that lasts.
My goal for 2021 is to continue pushing the limits, trying new things, and to not to fixate on the past, but, instead, to look to the future with optimism. I will sharpen my “can do” attitude, be open to change, listen more and continually learn. And, I won’t let my own self-doubts and fear get in my way!
Yada, yada, yada, blah, blah, blah.
Time’s a wasting…let’s get on with 2021!
And remember to laugh, it may be the most important thing you do EVERY DAY this year!
